Waterways Photo Library is the leading source of quality photography featuring Great Britain’s inland waterways. The collection contains carefully selected original transparencies plus black and white photographs dating back to early 1960s.

The library, which is now being updated with digital images, covers all aspects of canals and many of the rivers. Waterway architecture includes bridges, aqueducts, locks, tunnels and all types of waterside buildings from old mills to modern developments. There are many glorious views of beautiful countryside and industrial scenes in towns and cities throughout the year.

Waterway activities include everything from energetic white water canoeing and rafting to the less strenuous angling and walking. There are many types of boats ranging from commercial tankers to coracles, canal working boats and holiday hire craft.

Environmental issues include water pollution, bank erosion, vandalism and graffiti.

I have never seen anything ugly in my life, for let the form of an object be what it will, light, shade and perspective will make it beautiful.’ John Constable 1776-1837
